ML Community Enterprise

ML Community Enterprise delivers activities in Lambeth, supporting young people from vulnerable and disengaged areas of the Loughborough, Moorlands and Angell Town estates which rank in the top 3% wards for deprivation nationally. These communities are suffering severe marginalisation and economic disadvantage, along with multiple correlating issues including high rates of youth and gang violence, unemployment, and poor mental and physical health. A large focus of their work is supporting at-risk young people aged 12 to 19, offering skills building and employment readiness work, open access youth club provision, sports and wellbeing programmes, therapeutic counselling and a safe place to go after school.

The team at MLCE added NFL Flag into their regular sports provision, offering 1-2 weekly evening sessions for young people. The project supported their wider ambitions to get young people off the streets and providing activities to divert them from involvement in crime or negative influence. In particular, MLCE focused their project on engaging the girls at their centre who did not previously participate in their football sessions.
